Is it all adding up? Your responses indicate you are a Diet Thinker! The Diet Thinker values knowledge and accomplishment. What happens when a Diet Thinker decides to lose weight? Well, she’ll do what she does best, she’ll think about it—sometimes for hours, sometimes for days and sometimes even years. This means… procrastinating. Her challenge is to use procrastination as a catalyst to analyze why she associates fear with weight loss.  
  She can also get motivated by making exercise a problem to be solved, and utilize the latest technology to get herself engaged. Pedometers, electronic scales, hand-held body fat analyzers, heart rate monitors, 24-hour calorie expenditure monitors, computer exercise and calorie monitoring programs…these are all great tools for a Diet Thinker.

Another problem often faced by the Diet Thinker is that her great analytical ability means she can find the information she wants to find, anywhere…including the information needed for the perfect excuse! For example, she will justify eating large quantities of potato chips because the potassium content of the chips is higher than that of a banana. The solution? Instead of using obscure, extreme-logic as an excuse for not-so-healthy indulgences, she should do what she does best—seek knowledge and understanding from a variety of reliable sources. Then, once she sees that good health is the real goal, she will have an easier time making decisions about her health based on useful facts.
